Scott was born in Oakville Ontario but grew up in Vancouver. He obtained a Bachelors of Arts degree in English Literature from UBC in 1983. A Bachelors of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia followed in 1987 and Scott was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1988.Scott did some general litigation and some plaintiffs’ personal injury work after being called to the bar. He traded hats to practice in the area of insurance litigation. For over 20 years, Scott has acted solely on behalf of insurance companies defending personal injury claims and he has appeared in all Courts in the Province.

He typically works with the Province’s compulsory automobile insurer and the vast majority of his practice involves the defence of claims for damages arising from motor vehicle accidents. Scott worked for 6 years with the largest compulsory automobile insurer in the Province, first as in-house counsel and then as a manager of the insurer’s Vancouver Litigation Services department. Scott has been involved in the creation and implementation of several initiatives and programs designed to help to reduce the rising costs of claims for damages for motor vehicle accident related bodily injury.

Scott focuses upon delivering timely, practical, value-added legal advice to enable his clients to make informed decisions when concluding claims involving catastrophic injury, psychological injury, cognitive impairment, disabling chronic pain and traumatic brain injury. Many of Scott’s files involve multiple insurers or technical insurance related issues and those files that do not settle often proceed to trial by judge and jury. Scott has been an invited presenter at a Canadian Defence Lawyers’ course and has given numerous presentations to his client.

Scott is married and has twins. In his spare time, Scott is an avid reader and is typically in the middle of a couple of books at any time.
